The council has now decided to reject the plans submitted by the owners of the chiropractor site to build luxury flats. The decision notice is available here. Planning overall application is here.
We think this is the right decision by the council as these plans seemed to be focused purely on private gain and would have caused harm to the local area which was not outweighed by any public benefit.
We hope now that the owner of the chiropody site will enter into constructive conversations with the council to allow the estate renewal plans for Hathersage and Besant courts to go ahead.
The council’s plans will provide much needed new homes as well as refurbishment of existing buildings, new landscaping and play space for residents of the estates. Residents have waited a very long time for these promised improvements to take place and we hope now we will finally see some progress.
